War Letters - PVT. Moore

This is a tune I wrote and recorded in memory of our grandfather.

Lyrics to PVT Moore (Soldier Song)

Dear Mother,
I write this letter
As I watch the sun change the morning sky
I'm not sure how long I"ll be gone
I can hear the sounds of guns
Play endless interludes somewhere in my mind
It feels like the devil's got a hold on the hands of time
Tell sister to stay in school
She'll have to teach me to read and write when I get home
It's a long long war and there's no place like home

Dear Mother,
I write this letter to say I'm sorry
I don't know why I lied about my age
Please write someone quickly
To let'm know I'm only 16 years old
Each soldier that dies another tear I cry
Folks at home like heroes not men running for their lives
Feels like the devil's got a hold on the hands of mine
I want to go home
It's a long long war and there's no place like home

La la la la la
La la la la
La la di da

And my enemy looks like my friend down the road
Oh my lips thirst for water and my hands are cold
Oh Dear Mother, what exactly are we fighting for
What are we fighting for
(Chorus)

Dear Mother,
I write this letter
To say I love you
